Terms and Conditions Tropical Rent a Cars Costa Rica Services

Cars Rental rates do not include:

• Gas
• Insurance
• Other Expenses

Cars Rental Age:

• Customer must be at least 21 years of age and have valid drivers license.

Cars Rental Charge for Gas

• The car must be returned with the same amount of gasoline specified in the contract; otherwise the missing amount will be charge.

Cars Rental Payment:

• Rentals may be paid with credit cards, cash.
• Other Charges: Will be written in the contract.

Cars Rental Deposit:

• Is required and is blocked on a major credit card.

Cars Rental Extra Hours

• Our periods of rent are from 24 hours, 60 minutes of tolerance is permitted in your returned time.
• For the following 3 hours we will charge $10 for each hour.
• For over 3 hours, an extra day will be charge.

Cars Rental General Condtions

• Daily rates are from 1 to 6 days.
• Weekly rates are for 7 days or more.
• Daily rates are comprised of any 24 hours period.
• All pre-paid rentals are non-refundable.
• Free mileage applied for more than 3 days rents.
• Cars at not allowed outside Costa.
• A valid passport and drivers license is required for rent.
• In case of NO SHOW a fine of $500 will be charge.
• A $1000 deposit is required at the moment to realize the rent and it will be paid with credit card only.

Cars Rental Insurance

• Our vehicles are insured against collision with a deductible of $ 1000.00 USD, which means, that the client is responsible for the first $ 1000.00 of the damages. If the damage is smaller, he only pays the cost of the damage.
• In case of car theft or total damage, the deductible is $ 2500.00 USD.
• In case of negligence the tourist has to pay the total cost of the damages, since there is no insurance covering such an incident.
• The vehicles are also covered against damages to third parties, civil responsibility, if the client is responsible for 20% or more of the damages. After there is proof that he is responsible for less than 20%, the deductible will be returned.
• Insurance with no deductible
• The additional cost for coverage without deductible is $ 25.00 per day depending of car car that will be rented, with a minimum rent of seven days.
• Restrictions apply
• Any claim for insurance will be considered as valid when:
  • You do not drive using alcoholic drinks and drugs.
  • Show the police ticket.
  • The driver is the authorized in the contract.
  • Have 21 years old.
  • If you are not drive on the beaches, crossing rivers or travel by places not shown in the map as a driveway.

Emergencies and last minute reservations

• For last minute reservations and emergencies, we count with a 24 hour answering service in our offices with localizers, radio communication and cellular-phones to guarantee the fastest possible service in case of an accident or a mechanical problem, so we can send you a replacement vehicle or mechanic at once to any location in the country

Cars Rental Vehicle Delivery

• The vehicles will be delivered to any location of the Metropolitan area or Juan Santamaria Airport
• The vehicles can also be delivered to any location in the country with an extra charge depending on the location.
